Timber Frame Options

At TTF we belive in providing the highest quality timber frame homes. We offer three main wall specification packages - Standard, Plus & Advanced.

No matter which package you choose all Turner Timber Frame External wall panels are made from the same high quality 140 x 38mm pressure treated timber, sourced from only sustained forests. These deep studs form the very strong inner core of your home, and provide adequate space for insulation, which will easily meet and beat current building regulations.

The panel construction is made for a series of vertical studs at 600mm centres, running between a top and bottom rail. The external Panel face is sheathed with 9mm OSB 3 board, on to this board we offer a choice of breather membranes, this is an important part of the timber frame construction keeping out any moisture from the panels themselves and can also offer additional thermal benefits (See Advanced Timber Frame Package) On the Timber Frame Plus and Advanced package we introduce the facility of a Cavity area for pipe work and cables saving drilling through the frame itself and avoiding penetrating the vapour control layer to the internal face. Plus:  Labour saving Service Cavity

Timber frame panels have “Tyvek house wrap” Breather Membrane to external face of 140mm Stud as specification above and to also include supply only of “Protect” vapour control foil and 25x50mm Rock laths.

Plastic Vapour control layer (supplied by others) to be replaced with above reflective vapour control foil to internal face with rock laths attached on top of vapour barrier to form a cavity. This reflective air gap acts as an additional insulation, whilst also providing a “nail free zone” to run all services i.e. pipes and wires to save having to drill these through timber frame panels themselves.

Advanced:   Service Cavity & high performance membrane

Amazing 0.14W/M2K U Value with Kingspan type insulation!

The advanced Package replaces the “Tyvek house wrap” with a highly sophisticated foil breather membrane with a metallised low emissivity surface. This is factory fitted to external face of panel increasing thermal performance of wall to maintain constant room temperature inside, whilst reflecting heat out in summer to keep dwelling cool.

Internal face of panel to have vapour control foil and service cavity as described above, offering an area of which to run services backed by reflective foil which reflects heat into the room helping to maintain constant temperature.
